Unfortunately, your story isn't so uncommon, and papers wonder why they are failing...Here's perhaps a similar parallel, I worked at a paper where the ME, a queen bee, removed any and every other attractive woman from the news room, achieved contrived-attrition goals by reassigning senior reporters to entry-level beats, and imposing 50-60 mile commutes by switching bureau reporters' job in one end of the county to one in the opposite end. Of course she went on to further fame and glory after leaving, but first added exponentially to an already toxic work environment. She was even invited to a PBS panel to discuss the issue of reporters making up stories, disavowing any knowledge that she had handed a column job to a reporter suspected of and subsequently fired for doing just that. To be fair, the man who preceded her was far worse. But he was fired.

Retired journalist, I love to write and share my stories with friends and family. My wife suggested I try this and here I am.
