Yes, the Diamondbacks belong

It’s time the big-time baseball experts look just a little deeper than merely spouting their opinions about these no-name, super lucky Diamondbacks.

Since Aug. 12, when the D-Backs bottomed out with a record at 57–59, they have gone 37–22, including sweeping the Brewers and Dodgers and wresting two elimination-game wins from Philly at Philly, a mythical accomplishment. They’ve been winning at a .622 clip. For a solid two-and-a-half months, the D-Backs have had the best record in baseball.

So, yeah, I’d say the right team, the better team, is right where it is supposed to be, in the World Series. They are a cohesive, gifted young team that has gotten really good and really smart really fast. And they know it. It’s time the experts, who probably can’t recall a time or a team like this one, recognize it, too.

(For those who may not be aware, Tommy Pham gave up his chance to be the only player in history to go 5 for 5 in a WS game to let veteran sub Jace Peterson have an at bat. That’s class, and may shed light on the type of character that makes this team tick.)
